Coal for the Bad Children.....

"Hey I didn’t get any coal…. I’m amazed."

Again this is not a Lilly Lou says – but something that Morgan said after reviewing all of his presents and considering the amount of room that Santa had to have in his bag.

I asked Morgan why he was amazed and he seriously looked at me with his big blue eyes and said I was a bit mean to Lilly this year.

Lilly then piped up – hands on hips, “Well, I’ve been good and I don’t need any coal.”

Morgan just looked at her and shook his head….. as did we all…. Then we ran round the corner and laughed lots.

Just in case you don't know - it was a threat that if you had been bad during the year - Santa would only leave coal in your stocking.

The Blood Shop

I often speak aloud when formulating my list of things I need to do in the day. I hope it helps my kids understand that you need to plan ahead for things and what is required to do so.

Lilly pipped up this morning – you need to go to the blood shop.

What would I be buying there Lilly Lou? I asked.

She looked at me as if I were an insect. “Blood Mummy”. and then rolled her eyes. ( who needs a teenager in the house when you have a three year old?)

“I’m not sure I need blood today sweetheart” I replied.

“Yes we do. We need sausages and steak for the BBQ too.”

I have never been one to hide any facts of life from the kids – and they are well aware that an animal has been killed, skinned and cut up in order for us to eat it. It is interesting that Lilly has worked out that the butcher is a place full of blood.

Watch this vegetarian space… maybe..

Lilly Claims Motherhood

She is such a little darling.

"When can I be a mummy?"

I patently tell her that she needs to grow up and have her own house before she can do this. I ask her if she wants to be anything when she grows up – doctor, vet, nurse, teacher, dancer, actress?

No – she is animate that she wants to be a mummy.

“I want a baby in my tummy. Can I have it now?” she says.

Why darling I ask – really interested now.

So that we can play ladies and you can sing and give me a beads.

I might like to explain here that yesterday I held a sacred women’s space at home – a Blessing Way – which honored a girlfriends path through pregnancy and into motherhood.

My girlfriend is delightfully round and we painted her tummy with henna – as well as underwent the web and the birthing blanket ceremonies. It was a wonderful experience- and one that impacted Lilly a lot – obviously. She had been invited to attend and I thought she was more interested in looking around – rather than paying attention to what was going on – but no – she had picked it all up.

I feel relieved that she feels that mother hood is as important a role than any other – even at this age. I also notice its quite difficult not to fall into stereotypical answers and I try to answer with openness and objectivity.

Perfume

Ok – this is not something Lilly said, but I am still laughing about it and have to share it.

Morgan cuddled up to me this morning as I was making them breakfast. He looked up at me with his big blue eyes and lovingly said, “Mummy you smell like a clean toilet.”

Nice.

Now – I might have agreed with him if I were wearing some cheap sickly sweet crappy stinky water manufacturers try to pass off as perfume – but I had just dabbed some pure flower essence from the organics shop on.

I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much.

Bless his little socks.. He will be a winner with the girls I am sure.

The cup runneth over.

“ I can’t see out of these goggles”

I turned to see her wearing my flimsy bra over her head. We were hanging washing and she was helping me – hand the clothes up to me and she decided that this was the purpose for this garment.. bless her heart. I’d like to note that my bra size has not been near the vicinity of a A, B or C cup for over 20 years.

Darth Maul Attacks Kindy Child

You heard it here first.

The evil lord of darkness apparently threw a rock at Lilly today.

She got in the car I asked her how her day was and she told me that she had been attacked by Darth Maul. Her head bled from the gash made by the rock – but she said she was better and can she go in the pool now….

Ahh – shes fine – tough as that one. There was a report I had to fill in – yes it was a rock – yes she bled – and yes she shrugged it off after a bit of a cry… and the mysterious Darth Maul? Shrouded in secrecy – so who knows – it may have been him..

I am just imagining some of those little darlings painted up – some of them def have the horns that’s for sure.
