Science - desert plants adapting for survival

Today I'm going to look at how plants grow in the desert.

Plants need water,light and nutrients from the soil to grow strong and healthy. Some desert plants have shallow roots an some have long deep ones. The plants store there water inside it.



The cactus has spikes to protect the water inside its stem from animals.

Music lesson 3

This weeks music lesson looked at unusual musical instruments from around the world.

Her is a leaf flute that comes from Australia. All you need is a gum leaf and blow across it.

A bagpipe that comes from Scotland. Did you know that there are also bagpipes in Spain? A bagpipe is a big bag with pipes sticking out of it and you blow into one pipe with holes  and a reed in it and you squeeze he bag to keep the noise going.

And a bird box that comes from Switzerland.  We went to a musical museum this week and saw one working. It was amazing.

Geography report draft one England

England is known for fish and chips and the Queen.

England is located above Europe. Its an Island.

England is 130,395 km squared.

53.5 million people live there. 

In England they speak French (23%), German(9%) and Spanish (8%).

In England they have a monarch government.

In England they use pounds.

Englands national animal is a lion and a unicorn. This is the official emblem.

In England they have black pudding, yorkshire pudding, cheddar cheese, jellied eels, bangers and mash ( mash potato and sausage) and beef cobbler ( a beef pie).

If you go to England you need to see all the castles, the London Eye, Stonehenge and lego land because you learn the history of England in these places except from Lego land.

Music lesson 4 What is an Orchestra?

A orchestra is a group of instrumentalists that play string, woodwind, brass, and percussion sections and playing classical music.

Usually an orchestra plays there music in a theatre full of people.

Grammar - lesson 3 adjectives

Adjectives are describing words.

They describe how big or small or anything else. So this is how it would describe the word a large elephant. Large was the adjective in that sentence.

Maths lesson 3 - timetables

Times tables is when you multiply a number like 4 into 4 rows and you get 16. The number sentence goes like this: 4x4=16.

It is important to know the times table because it is the building block of maths. 

Science - sound

I have been learning things about sound.

Sound is a form of energy and travels through the air as waves.

Did you know the higher the pitch the sound waves are closer and the lower the pitch the further the waves are apart?

 Sound waves need air to travel. Sound waves travel at 340m per second.

The reason we hear is we have a drum in our ear and the waves hit the drum.
